About Tina Mischke

Who am I and why am I writing about dogs?

I am in my 50′s, I work full-time as a special education teacher, and I have a B.A. in communication studies and an M.S. in special education.  But that’s not why I’m doing this.  I’ve been writing all my life.  I’ve had a few short stories and poems published over the years and I edited an online Ezine for several years in the late 90s.  In my employment, I’ve worked on company newsletters, press releases, and training manuals before becoming a special education teacher in my 40s.

I’ve loved animals all my life.  Paid and unpaid jobs have included pet sitting, foster care, bottle feeding, live-in ranch hand, groomer/bather, kennel attendant, humane shelter volunteer, large animal sanctuary volunteer, nail clipping, feather trimming, and co-owner of a Chinchilla forum that was started in 2005.

When I was 42, I attended Animal Behavior College and received a certificate as a Certified Dog Obedience Instructor.  I spent one year teaching classes at PetCo before going back to school for my Master’s degree.

Currently, I own 13 pets and have a 1950s California bungalow in the Sacramento area.  I missed writing and I love talking about animals so blogging is the perfect venue.

Comments always welcome.
